Light Shorted
Today I finally broke down and pulled the light from the deep end. It had thrown the GFI breaker last November and Paddock said it was not covered by warranty so I decided to take a look.
It seems that the rust proof housing had rusted through and the light filled with water. I am going to let it dry out and fill the holes in the can to see if it will work again.
It will be hard to replace since Paddock ran the wire through a maze of pipes back to the power panel.

SWG Installed
Finished installing the salt water chlorine generator. After refilling the pool, salt level down to 3400. SWG seems to be running fine. Set it to super chlorinate to see what happens.

The salt water generator came in today. I mounted the controller to the wall and started draining the pool. I figured I will need to drain 25% of the water to get the salt level down to the new level for the new SWG.
I removed the worthless ozone generator. The cost to repair is much greater than the benefits.

SWG
I ordered a new chlorine generator today. I think I will try a Hayword Aqua Rite 40k. They were on sale for about $900. Was hoping to install it over the holiday, but they were sold out.

Heatpump works
Gillespie A/C called me and had me do a reset on the heatpump. This was basically tuning off the power to the heatpump and letting it sit, then restarting it. That seemed to fix it. It restarted with no errors. You would think it ran on Windows XP.

Heatpump Error
Paddock came out and repaired the leaking pipe at the filter. Another $65.00 service charge.
When I restarted the pool pump after waiting about an hour for the glue to dry, the heatpump error code popped up saying the suction TH open. The heatpump refused to start. Gillespie A/C said that the temp sensor has failed and needs to be repaired. They will try and be out on Wednesday.
I called Pentair to ask if the heatpump could be replaced instead of constantly repairing the unit. After being on hold for about 15 minutes the service technician's computer crashed and I was put back in the hold lineup. Another 15 minutes on hold. I was told that they would look into it and call me back Tuesday.
So, as of today, the leak is fixed but the chlorine generator (Ecco-Matic), Ozone generator (Ultra-Pure), Deep end light (Jazz Light), and heatpump (Pentair) have all failed.

Junk
I blew out the main drain today, I had to hook up my air compressor to the drain filter and blow out the debris.
Since Paddock was sure it was not a warranty problem I decided to do it myself.
I found a chunk of plaster that was stuck inside the drain pipe. I wonder how much more plaster is stuck in the pipes.
The Ecco-Matic chlorinator still does not work and I have to come up with around $1200 to replace it with another brand that will last longer than 2 years. For now I have to use a floating chlorine dispenser.
I still need to pull the light in the deep end as it is still shorted.
I noticed that the pipe exiting the filter is leaking at an elbow. I wonder if Paddock considers bad glue joints warranty? I will have to call and ask.
Called Paddock and spoke with Debbie. The soonest available time is on May 18, 2009, and a cost of $65 for the trip.
I asked her about the light and she informed me that it has a warranty for 3 years. Unfortunately that expired in March.

Drain Plugged
The main drain is clogged up. I attempted to clean out the main drain that has plugged with leaves. Due to the use of security screws holding the lid on it I am unable to get to the drain pipe to free up the clog. Will have to have either Paddock or a pool service come out and remove the security screws.
The chlorinator and ozone generators have both failed. The deep end light also trips the GFI outlet.
Called and left message for Paddock Pools.
Crystal returned my call 2 hours later and informed me that nothing was covered under warranty and the would have to charge me to repair the equipment. The warranty only covers the filter, pumps and the pool structure itself.
I will have a different service come out to fix the drain.
I am real glad I chose the 5 year warranty. Where else can you pay for nothing.

Heat pump Repair
Gillespie A/C called and quickly came out to look at the unit. They determined that a capacitor had failed and replaced it. I am leaving the unit to run for a few days to see if it will continue to operate. Gillespie A/C was very helpful and their response was quick.
04 March
I received an e-mail from Pentair stating they will have Gillespie A/C contact me about evaluating the heat pump and advise them of his findings..

Checked heat
I checked the temp today. It read 68. Fan running but it doesn't sound like the compressor is running.
I contacted Pentair via their website asking how many times it has to be repaired before they replace it. It seems to fail every time I try to heat or cool the pool.
My advice on Pentair is to stay away from their heat pumps. They can't seem to get it to work for more than one season.

Turned heater on
Turned heat pump on to see if it will warm up. set at 90. Currently 68

Electrical Short
I tried to turn the lights on in the pool for Halloween and found out the lights in the deep end are blowing the GFI breaker. Somewhere they have a ground fault. I should have tried the lights during the summer when it was warmer.
16 July
Paddock came out and replaced the o-ring for the cleaning system. He will return to fix the filter leak, he did not have the parts needed to fix it. The Jandy valve was also repaired. Loss of prime was due to the cover on the pump basket not being tight enough and allowing air into the system.
The ECOmatic saltwater system and ozone generator are only covered for the first 2 years, so they were not repaired.
I have not been able to find a supplier for the seals needed to repair the ECOmatic system yet. I will try and contact them directly and see if they will sell me the parts needed to repair it.
The ozone generator will probably be removed from the system due to the cost of repairs does not cover the benefits gained from the system.
I called ECOmatic and spoke with Leo. He told me he would send out the o-rings under warranty since it was just over the 2 years.
14 July
I called Paddock and spoke with Andrew about the problems with the pool. He said a tech would be out on Wednesday, July 16.
He notified me that the 2 year warranty was up as of 03-2008. I wonder where they got that date because the actual completion date was 04-26-2006 per Ed Ghiz.
He told me there will be a $65.00 service charge for the repairs.
