Debris left in Paddock Pool linesI went diving today to find out why the PCC cleaning system was not advancing correctly. I found that a bunch of debris had clogged the nozzles. After blowing out the lines again, they worked again.
Most of the debris was plaster and the caps to keep the plaster out of the lines during construction. The dime in the picture is for size comparison.

Today I noticed the PCC system is stuck again. The cleaning system for the shallow end has stuck on one station. I will have to take it apart and find out why it wont advance. This seems to happen quite often.

While checking to see what pump controls that PCC system I noticed that when the pump is started it shoots water out from between the pump and motor assembly. My guess is either the motor is loose or a bad seal.

Fixed the PCC cleaning jet. A large piece of plaster had wedged itself under it keeping it from retracting. Blew out the line and it seems to be working again.

One of the PCC cleaning heads is stuck again. It pops up but wont go down. Will have to remove it and see if it can be fixed or replaced.

I went down to Paddock Pools to ask them in person when the repairs would be done. I met with Debbie Moles and she said that a diver and Kelly Sharp would be out on Wednesday 01-24-2007 at 10 a.m. to fix the cleaning jet and main drain.
David Lafferty would be out also to look over the interior finish. He would let them know if it is a warranty issue or not. Prado has told them that they do not think that the stains and footprint are from their installation of the interior.

Heatpump Froze

The heatpump froze over last night and I had to de-ice it this morning.
Kelly Sharp was out and replaced the rusted diving board base. He also replaced 2 of the PCC heads in the deep end. One of the heads he replaced came out of the box pre broken. He said he would be back to replace it. We checked over the pool looking at the current problems. He said he would go back and explain what my concerns were.

DSC00032Charlette returned my call. She said that Gillespie will be out today to fix the heater if they can.
I told her about the other problems I am having with the pool.
1) The main filter pump looses prime every now and then.
2) Air constantly blowing out the returns.
3) PCC cleaning system blowing air and very noisy.

5) Diving board base has rusted.
6) Main drain still plugged.
7) Plaster still stained and footprint on first step.
8) Caulk line above waterline tile, gap.
I forgot to tell her about the pool gate not closing.

She told me that Kelly Sharp will be out on Tuesday 12-19-2006 to fix the PCC head and look at the diving board and filter pump. He will also look at the plaster to see what can be done.
I told her that I had received a quote to repair the stucco on the waterfall. I had spoken with Edward Ghiz and Debbie Moles and we had agreed that since Poco Verde was no longer allowed on property, I could have it repaired from another source. She asked that I fax them a copy of the quote.
She said that the waterline caulk was usually a one time courtesy repair and that had already been done but she would see if they could do it again.

I went down to Paddock Pools in Scottsdale AZ. to personally chat with them about the problems. They said that they would resolve all of them.

The pool cleaning system is set to start at 10 pm every night. Tonight I can hear it blowing air as it changes from station to station. The pool filter is also loosing prime every now and then. I am still waiting to hear from Debbie Moles on when they are going to fix the PCC cleaning system.

Today I noticed the guage for one of the cleaning systems had died. The other cleaning pump is starting to make loud noises. I will have to see if it fails.
Still no call back from Paddock about the heatpump not working right.

I called Kimberly and asked when someone was going to be out to fix where the tile was separating from the deck. The tile people will be out sometime Saturday.
The cleaning system does not seem to be cleaning the bottom deep end again. Either the main drain is still plugged or the PCC-2000 is not working correctly. A tech is scheduled to come out again on Wed.

PCC2000 still not clearing up the dirt on the bottom.
Over the weekend found a couple of the cleaning jets had plugged. I will have to try and remove them and blow out the pipes in the cleaning system.
I will try a steel brush on the perma dirt that is our interior finish.
I turned the chlorine generator almost all the way up, still no chlorine being generated. Had to add 3lbs of pad chem and 4lbs of pad con to bring the levels back up.

DSC00231Prado and Sons came out to look over the perma-dirt stains in the plaster. He said they would need to drain the pool to acid wash it. I told him that we had thought that they were going to drain it last week or the week before. This is about the third time they have been by to look at this. He said it was the first he had heard about it. He would get back with Paddock on what to do next.
DSC00239Paddock came out to resurface the pool deck and repair the chips. He was under the impression that the pool had been completed. They power washed the deck and left.
Ron with Paddock came out to check on the cleaning system. He was wondering if it had been drained yet. I told him that Prado and Sons had shut down the cleaning system earlier today. He would get back with Paddock on what to do next.
DSC00248A couple of guys showed up to look at the tile. They said it was not due to their caulking but it looked as if the grout had run on the tile. They would see if they could clean it.
Poco Verde came out to touch up the paint on the waterfall.

Things that are yet to be completed:
1.Color wheels not able to change separately on main lighting.
2.Fiber optic controller not on remote and change color wheel separately.
3.Concrete riser for wok pot # 3 fiber optics not finished.
4.Gauge for waterfall pump broken.
5.Water leak at Jandy valve for one of the wok pots.
6.Stains and chips on deck.
7.Cleaning system plugged with construction material.
8.Fiber optic lines falling out of waterfall.
9.Wok pot water lines can be seen (pipes above nozzles)
10.Stains in plaster. (perma-dirt)

I called Edward Ghiz at 3:00pm and asked for him or a representative of Paddock Pools to come out and look at the pool. He stated that he had to leave for the Las Vegas office but would come out next week. He said he would call me back with a time to meet.

Complaint filed with B.B.B.
On March 31, 2005 I contracted for a custom pool with Paddock Pools. It is now April 19, 2006 and they have yet to complete the pool.
I was forced to file a complaint with the R.O.C. on December 21, 2005 due to poor construction and they promised if I rescinded the complaint the pool would be completed shortly after February 15, 2006. I pulled the complaint and most of the items had been repaired.
Currently there are several items yet to finish.
Other problems keep arising as construction continues.

These were promised to be complete by April 19, 2006 by Edward Ghiz, Sr Vice President, Construction Division.
I have a custom waterfall that has had to be rebuilt numerous times due to poor construction and was just refinished again this week.
I feel the time it has taken to build this pool is way beyond a reasonable amount. I have made several concessions to try and expedite the work.

I would just like them to finish the work as promised with the quality and workmanship expected from Paddock Pools.

Week 52

While checking the chemical balance and trying to clean up the dirt on the bottom, about 2 hours, I noticed that if I turn on just the shallow end skimmer, the pump sucks air and runs dry. Checked skimmer and it does have water in it. Also air in the line if I choose main drain only, but does not run the pump dry. The PCC 2000, a.k.a. Piece Crap Cleaning 2000 system, is still not clearing the dirt up and now makes lots of noise.
Debbie Moles called and said the electricians will be out on Friday to replace the lights with the Jazz lights. Cody will be out to fix the gauges, cleaning system, and check on the air in the system. Scott will try and straiten out the diving board.

Scott Dilliam was out to look at the cleaning system. I showed him the air bubbles coming out of the cleaning nozzles on the bottom of the pool. He said that was fine. The cleaning system is still not working. I mentioned that the auto fill was still running, and he said that he had raised the level of the water so it was just filling to catch up.
Debbie Moles called, she was under the impression that the lights were done. I also reminded her that if they have to acid wash the plaster, it would set back the installation of the salt system. She said she will contact the electricians, Terry with orientation, and Scott Dilliam in the morning and find out where we are at. I again stressed how important that we not go past the one year mark on this pool.

Week 51

Poco Verde is attempting to seal the wok pots to keep them from leaking. Todd came out for orientation meeting. He couldn’t get color wheels on lights to work correctly either. Chlorine levels at 0.5 and ph at 8.4. He advised on brushing the pool 3 times a day for the first 14 days. Clean the cartridge filters every 3 months.
Today’s list of concerns:
1. PCC2000 cleaning system won’t cycle.
2. Lighting color wheels won’t cycle.
3. Color wheels not able to change separately.
4. Pool lighting will not sync with fiber optic lighting.
5. Pumps on wrong timers/remote.
6. Stains in plaster.
7. Stains and chips on deck.
8. Fiber optics not working. No illuminator
9. Waterfall lighting not in.
10. No conduit in concrete riser for wok pot # 3 fiber optics.
11. Wok pot lines plugged and do not spray correctly.
12. Wok pot bubbler pipes stick up over pots.
13. Diving board set crooked.
14. Gauges for cleaning system broken.
15. Gauges for pumps broken.
16. Dirt in deep end can not make it to the main drain. PCC2000 spraying over the top of main drain, keeping debris from making it to the drain.
Called and left message for Debbie to call me. She will be out till Friday. UV system was installed and plumbed into the filter.

Fiber Optics

Fiber optic people were out today. Only thing done was to put wok pot 3’s wire inside conduit. The conduit does not continue where they are going to pour concrete. The wires will be inside the concrete wok pot base. They left the conduit running above ground behind the wok pot bases. The waterfall lighting is lying on top of the waterfall. The PCC2000 automatic cleaning system has failed already. Only half the heads work and even they are pointed in the wrong directions. I believe there is a leak somewhere because the auto water leveler is still running. I shut it off to see how much the water goes down.

Debbie Moles called and asked if I would mark all the areas that need repair in the deck. She said they would be out Thursday or Friday or Monday or Tuesday to fix it. The plaster stains would be looked at and the diver will try to get them out. The start up crew placed the PCC cleaning heads into the pool. Added skimmer baskets and flow nozzles. Wok pots #2 and 3 has something in the line and does not flow correctly. The plug is before the fiber optics, so they can’t blow it out. They left the remote for the water features and lights with me. The color wheels on the lights do not work or are missing.
